Incredible 1928 studio photograph and controversial and famous actress Louise Brooks from her film "Beggars of Life" which is considered her greatest work of art from her career. The photo is a deep and beautiful studio image that is made special by the fact that it is stamped on the back by James Card, the early film historian. Card is responsible for the resurgence in Louise Brooks' career in 1955 and she even moved close to him for a period of her life leading to some speculation that perhaps this photo was Brooks' own personal photograph from the film and gifted to James Card! The photo is clean and bold with some slight discoloration at the upper right corner being the only flaw, but that stain could have been put there by Brooks herself which would make it a bit more acceptable. This is the most important photograph of Brooks we have ever handled and considering it highly likely that she owned or at least handled this photo at one time making a unique piece of film history. Completely original to 1928!
